Majidi reacts to Gen Soleimani’s martyrdom

Director Majid Majidi releases statement on Gen Soleimani’s martyrdom.

Iranian director Majid Majidi released a statement, offering his condolences on Major General Qassem Soleimani’s martyrdom.

In his address, the award-winning director of ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ said:

“Indeed, to God we belong and to Him we shall return

I would like to congratulate and offer my condolences on the heroic martyrdom of one of Islam’s greatest generals, Haj Qassem Soleimani, and the return of his prominent soul to the port of The Eternal One.

In this time of sorrow, the most appropriate clothing that could have adorned his stature was, indeed, the sublime clothing of martyrdom. May his legacy live and his name be long honored, as for the entire duration of his blessed life, his heart would constantly pound for ensuring security for Islamic Iran. Like a humble soldier, he never once pulled back from his noble objective.

Without a doubt, his martyrdom was not in vain and through the blessing of this ascent, a shining lantern will be lit, having a dramatic effect on the empowerment and the flourishing of Islamic Iran.”

Soleimani was a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and commander of the corps’ Quds Force.

He defended Iran against the offensive by the US-backed regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

Throughout the years, he gained popularity for offering military assistance to oppressed people in various countries including the Kurds, Palestinians, and Iraqis who were victims of barbaric attacks by tyrants, occupying forces, and terrorist organizations.

His most recent achievement was the heavy casualties he inflicted on Daesh terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Soleimani was targeted by a US joint terrorist operation resulting in his martyrdom.

Iranians in cities across the country held mass rallies honoring General Soleimani while condemning the terrorists behind the assassination.

Many celebrities expressed their condolences including award-winning filmmaker Ebrahim Hatamikia.

An internationally acclaimed filmmaker, Majidi’s 1997 film ‘Children of Heaven’ was the first Iranian motion picture to be nominated for an Academy Award.

The film, along with many of Majidi’s other films, went on to receive numerous international awards and recognitions.

The filmmaker is regularly invited to serve on jury panels at many popular film festivals across the world.

‘The Color of God’, ‘Willow Tree’, and ‘The Song of Sparrows’ are among his features that have appeared on ifilm.
